Hildegard Reichmann Obituary

HILDEGARD EMMA REICHMANN Inspiring, good-humored, warm, kind, engaging, and joyful are just a few of the qualities that best describe Hildegard E. Reichmann, and we fondly remember and celebrate her and a life well-lived. With an infectious laugh, easy-going demeanor, all-encompassing warmth and quick wit, Hilda was always a pleasure to be around, and a force to be reckoned with. During her 101 years, she experienced so much, including nights sequestered in the village bomb shelter of Saarbrucken Germany during World War II, (with most of the falling bombs VX missiles sent from Germany towards France, that fell short), and a 42 year marriage to her husband, Paul Reichmann, a concentration camp survivor, who she met while helping nurse such survivors at the kindergarten school in Bavaria, where she was teaching as the war ended. Despite the immense gravity of some of her earliest life experiences, she never had bad things to say about others, nor did she ever complain about life's trials. She faced her life and its hardships with gratitude, humor, and infectious joy. Hilda is an inspiration, imbued with strength, fortitude, compassion, and a joyful approach towards life, who never gave in to artificial limitations prescribed by others. The numerous people around the world who, at the end of her 101 years, continue to remember and love her, are a testament to her brilliant presence. She is mourned in her passing, but fondly remembered by all whose lives have been touched by this embodiment of total grace and wonderfulness. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
