Hiroko Hiyama Obituary

HIROKO KATAOKA HIYAMA 91, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away quietly in her home on July 5th, 2023. She was born in North Hilo in Hakalau on the Big Island. She was a widow and a retired educator. Hiroko is survived by her son, Darryl (Melissa) Hiyama and daughter, Pamela R. Kohara. Her grandchildren are Katherine Hiyama, Ryan (Ayaka) Kohara, Jaylen Kohara, Jennifer Hiyama and Kyla Kohara. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Kawamoto and brother-in-law, Robert Hiyama. Hiroko found joy in gardening, day trading, crossword, UH volleyball and spending time with friends and family. Private inurnment ceremony will be held on 11/18/23 at Nuuanu Memorial Park at 10:45 am. Followed by a 12:30 celebration of life at her residence for friends and family. No flowers or gifts.
