IRENE OKABE Obituary

IRENE MASAKO OKABE 92, of Honolulu, passed away on September 28, 2023. She was born in Los Angelas and grew up on a chicken farm in Waialae eventually moving to Waimanalo. There she worked hard on a flower farm and as a telephone operator for Hawaiian Telephone Company to give her five children a better life than her own. She was a strong Christian who loved to dance Odori and crochet shawls and blankets as gifts for friends and family. Irene was predeceased by her husband Harry Okabe and survived by her children Faith Okabe, Hope (Glenn) Okimoto, Joy (James) Carrie, Jon (Nahomi) Okabe and David (Kellyn) Okabe and grandchildren Lauren Okimoto, Taralyn Carrie and Jimmy Carrie. She was also predeceased by her brother George Fukuda and survived by siblings Norma Masuda, Thelma Young and Peter Fukuda. Funerals services will be held at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2023. Visitation is at 9:30am and Services at 10:30am.
