JAMES SATO Obituary

JAMES T. SATO James Tsuneo Sato (92), of Wahiawa, Hawaii, passed away on May 4, 2023. He was married to Alice (Matsuo) for 53 years before her passing in 2016. James enjoyed fishing and sports, especially the ones his children and grandchildren played. No matter what sport, he was there watching the kids. He was a hardworking, devoted family man who committed himself to whatever he did. In his life he wore many hats: a plumber at the Waialua Plantation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, a Police Officer and a Detective for the Honolulu Police Department. He also volunteered his time to the Haleiwa Shingon Mission serving as their Vice President for many years. When Alice had fallen ill, he devoted himself to care for his wife, now wearing the hat of caregiver. The hat he wore best though, was the hat of being a father. They say the true testiment of any parent is their children. James and Alice were great examples of family and their legacy continues today. James is survived by his sons, Carl (Ann Tanaka), Roy (Lori Yokota) and his daughter Evelyn. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, Lauren, Craig, Taryn, Scott and Mari; and 8 great grandchildren: Micah James, Matthew, Austin, Cason, Arie, Kyler, Archer and Makoa Aloha. A private service was held on Saturday, August 12th, 2023. The family requests that in lieu of monetary gifts, donations be made to your favorite charity in James's honor.
