Jane Hyde Obituary

JANE TAEKO TAKESONO HYDE Jane Taeko Hyde (n?e Takesono) passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. She was born on September 29, 1941, in Olaa, Hawai'i, to Seikaku and Oyobu Takesono (n?e Nakahara). As a child, Jane, her mother, and eldest brother were interned at Tule Lake from 1942-46. She earned a BA from the University of Kansas and M.Ed. from Michigan State. She began her teaching career in Colorado and California before moving to Tokyo, where she taught at Tachikawa Air Station with DoDDS. There, she met Shelby Hyde, a USAF lieutenant; they married in 1969. In 1973, they settled on the East Coast, eventually raising their children, Jocelynn and Alan, in Demarest, NJ. Jane taught second grade in Fort Lee for 31 years, retiring in 2005. She is survived by her husband, children, five grandchildren, brothers Jerald and Gordon Takesono, and is predeceased by her brother Clifford. Jane is remembered with love and gratitude by her family, friends, former students, and those she touched with her steady grace and resilience. A private service will be held in her honor.
