Jean Hirano Obituary

JEAN REIKO HIRANO 83, passed away on December 23 at Straub Benioff Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Raymond, a devoted mother of three, and a proud grand- mother of four. Jean was a retired secretary at the University of Hawai'i, where she dedicated many years of service. She enjoyed golfing and looked forward each year to her annual trips to Las Vegas. A splendid cook, Jean had a special gift in the kitchen--every dish she made was delicious and shared with love. Jean was always happy, and her laughter was infectious, bringing joy to everyone around her. When she became a grandmother, her life revolved around her grand- children. She lovingly cared for them as babies and never missed a baseball or softball game, or an animation presentation. Her presence was constant, supportive, and full of warmth. Jean is survived by her sons, Lane (Tracey), and Douglas; and her four grandchildren, Ridge, Lauren, Colby and Carter. She was preceded in death by her son Reid and her husband Raymond. Private services were held, and Jean will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Jean will be remembered for her devotion to family, her kindness, and the happiness she spread wherever she went.
