Jean Kellerman Obituary

JEAN LOOMIS KELLERMAN Kaneohe, Hawaii - Jean Loomis Kellerman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend, passed away on July 12, 2024, in her home in Haiku Plantation. Born to Chuck and Estelle Loomis on June 21, 1941 in Greensboro, NC. She was 83 years old. Jean's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and her community. She lovingly raised three sons in Kailua: Drew (Sara) of Gig Harbor, WA, Chris (Kelli) of Redwood City, CA and Taylor (Kristine) of Ka'a'awa, HI Kellerman. Her grandchildren, Malia, Chase, Cade, Kirra, Jack and Noa brought immense joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Jean earned her BA in Early American History from The University of NC at Chapel Hill, where she was also a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Professionally, Jean had careers as an elementary school teacher at Le Jardin, real estate agent with Conley Dew, proprietor of "Kellerman Creek" Bed and Breakfast on Bainbridge Island WA, and much sought-after caterer. Jean had a passion for cooking, gardening, card games, reading, and genealogy, which she pursued with enthusiasm throughout her life. In her community, she was an avid member of the Colonial Dames of America, the Garden Club of Honolulu, the PEO Sisterhood, various Episcopal Church congregations in both Hawaii and Washington, and was a docent at the Hawaiian Mission Houses. She approached everything with a contagious zest for life. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, sisters Barbara North (Gary) and Margaret French (Dan) and many friends who will miss her dearly. A Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Life for Jean will be held at a future date.

I think of Jean every time I reach for my Hawaii coffee mug in the morning. And, when I look out my bedroom window and see her lovely home here on Bainbridge. Hope all is well with the Kellerman men. Merry Christmas to you!

It has taken me a while to come to terms with the idea that there is no Jean in the world anymore. I am remembering her bright smile and her always upbeat spirit. She was always ready and willing to do anything, for any body. She was our neighbor here on Bainbridge Island for almost 16 years.
She was so proud of her family. And you can be proud to know that her legacy lives on in you three wonderful sons and her grandkids. This saying was never truer than about Jean - she may be gone but she will not be forgotten. Much love to you all.

I hope you enjoy the picture, taken when she took Tim and I to her favorite restaurant and order a "small" Mai-Tai!

What a grand lady she was. So loved by her family and grandkids. She had a great life filled with many versatile features. We only knew her through Chris, her son, being married to our daughter Kelli.
She loved spending her visits with Chris´s 2 kids, Cade and Kirra. They would play a lot of cards and board games together, always challenging one another. One of her best assets was her love for cooking of which she turned into a catering business. She will truly be missed but her memories will last forever. Prayers and love from Kris and Gene

Jean was a hoot! We became great friends after meeting each other at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. She and I started our St B June birthdays luncheon, and when she moved back to Hawaii, I would call her when our other "members" got together. The last time being this 6/17. A generous living spirit who lived for her grands. She was so proud of them all. And her baby pineapple starts.

Drew, Chris and Taylor,

Your mom was something special. She was so full of life, always up for a party and positive about just about everything. She was so proud of you and your families. I was a neighbor and bookclub friend on Bainbridge. I've missed her (and her cooking) since she moved back to Hawaii.

I hope you like the photo. She was beautiful on the outside too!

My condolences on your loss.

Jean was warm and generous and delightful in every way. I am so thankful to have known her friendship as a member of our little bookclub and as a neighbor. Her beautiful spirit is something I will always treasure.

We remember Jean as a wonderful friend who had such a positive outlook on everything. Her energy and humor and fun will be missed greatly. We have missed Jean since her move back to Hawaii and we looked forward to another visit. We have greatly missed our game nights on Bainbridge Island with Jean and her creative recipes and help whenever food was in the picture. Her spirit will linger but she will be missed deeply.
