Jean Yamamoto Obituary

JEAN KAZUYO YAMAMOTO Jean Kazuyo Yamamoto, a retired pattern maker for Tori Richard, beloved mom and member of her community, passed away on the 8th of August, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born on November 26, 1927, to Kunie (Banno) and Isao Sarae in Wakayama, Japan. She graduated from the fashion institute Bunka Fukuso Gakuen (Bunka Fashion College) in Tokyo, Japan, which was recognized as one of the top prestigious fashion schools in the world. It was her time here which laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for creating beautiful garments. Jean was married to Tatsuo Yamamoto, who preceded her in passing in 2009. Throughout their marriage, Jean was known for her deep generosity and always giving her time and talents to help others. She enjoyed creating countless clothing items for her family and friends. Her love and craftsmanship were stitched into each piece. She is survived by her two sons Dale, Wayne (Cherie), and granddaughter Angela Daly. She also leaves her sister Misao, nephew Michael (Mariko), and niece Miki. Other surviving relatives are her brother Atsushi (Junko) Sarae, nephew Wataru (Makiko), niece Yumiko (Tadashi) Ono, along with numerous grand nephews and nieces. She will be deeply be missed by all. It was our mother's wish that condolences not be expressed through the giving of koden (monetary gift). So, in lieu of this or flowers, we kindly ask that you make a donation to the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center. Viewing will be held at Hosoi Gardens on October 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on October 26, 2024 at 12:00PM for visitation, service at 1:00 PM, and a short internment ceremony on October 28, 2024 at Punchbowl National Cemetery, Columbarium Court 6AA, at 11:30 AM.
