Jean Zaa Obituary

JEAN NAOMI ZAA Jean Naomi Zaa, age 78, passed peacefully on April 28, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Jeannie was born in Honolulu to Ichito and Tome Nagao. The family moved to Kapahulu when she was a young child, where she continued to live and raise her family. Like her parents, Jeannie happily opened the family home to anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. She loved unconditionally and had a genuine interest in all who crossed her path. Jeannie had a knack for making everyone feel valued, appreciated and loved, and always rooted for the underdog. Helping others and spending time with family and friends brought her great joy. She was crafty and enjoyed giving away her coveted creations. Jeannie was thoughtful, selfless, fiercely loyal and beloved by many. She spent her entire career as a proud Bank of Hawaii employee. Jeannie will be fondly remembered for her big heart, extreme generosity, kindness, humor and warmth. She was a devoted daughter, mom, grammie, sister, aunty, cousin and friend. Heaven gained the best angel. Jeannie is survived by siblings, Robert Nagao (Helen), Joan Yamanaka (Ron), Roy Nagao; daughters, Shawn Zaa and Christine Otto Zaa (John); son, Jon Zaa; and grandchildren, Jacob and Logan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 16 at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel; 5:00pm visitation; 6:00pm service. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary
