Jim Shintani Obituary

JIM HISASHI SHINTANI, HISA Jim Hisashi Shintani, 87, of Pearl City, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Sandra Shintani-Ho and her husband, Jason; and Wendy Yoshikawa and her husband, Alton; his 7 grandchildren and siblings: Violet Yoshida, Glenn Shintani and Janice Koya. Jim was born in Ola'a, Hawaii, and later moved with his family to Hilo as a child. He was the 5th of 10 children. As a young adult, he enlisted in the Army and later moved to Honolulu where he met his wife, Jane (Yamashita). He is the son of the late Gunichi and Shigeko Shintani. Jim began his career as an airline mechanic with Aloha Airlines and later retired in 1998 after 34 years of service. Jim loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was sociable, friendly and outgoing and traveled to many places like Canada, Thailand, Japan, but flying to Vegas with Jane was his choice of travel (at least 3-5 times a year) throughout his retirement. They had many fun and enjoyable memories at "The Cal" together. Jim was a devoted husband, dedicated dad and an incredible grandpa to each of his grandchildren supporting all their school and extra-curricular activities. He celebrated every birthday and holiday with his family and enjoyed playing bingo and other card and board games together. Jim lived a very full life surrounded by so many loved ones. Please join us in remembering Jim, a wonderful individual who had a great sense of humor and impacted so many who knew him. Memorial services will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Monday, November 18, 2024, Visitation at 5:00, Service at 6:00pm. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
