Joan Hale Obituary

JOAN EDNA LUCY HALE Joan Edna Lucy Hale was born in Summit, New Jersey, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family at age 92 in Kailua, Hawaii. She is survived by her children, Jane (Jacques) Bargiel of Kailua, Hawaii, and George Hale II of Vallejo, California; and grand- children Thad Hale, Sophie Bargiel, Roland Bargiel, and Hannah (Daniel) Bargiel-Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Hale, and grandson George Hale III. Joan met and married Tom in Okinawa where they both taught elementary school. They subsequently lived and taught in Key West FL, Torrance CA, Palau, and South Korea before settling in Hawaii in 1969. While living in Hawaii, Joan became a hair stylist and went on to teach hairstyling and become the principal of several beauty academies. After raising their family, Joan and Tom left Hawaii in 1990 to enjoy retirement in Vallejo, CA, where Joan lived for over 30 years.
