John Beaton Obituary

JOHN GORDON BEATON John Gordon Beaton was born July 8, 1937 in Kilauea, Kauai to Mary Ross Beaton and John Beaton. His parents were both born in Scotland and moved to Hawaii in 1919. Gordon graduated Punahou School in 1956 and attended Menlo College. In his schooling days he was an avid swimmer. After working in California for several years he returned to Hawaii and worked at C. Brewer until his retirement. Gordon was involved with the Punahou O'Men and The Pacific Club. He was a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club. Gordon was a prolific traveler journeying all over the world to many parts of Europe, Asia, and South America; not to mention the hunting trips with friends in the United States. Gordon is preceded in death by his second wife of 26 years Mary Jane "Molly" Beaton (d.2000). He is also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Lou Johnston Carter (d.1995) and their son Donald Ross Beaton (d. 2015). Gordon is survived by his daughter with Molly, Catherine Beaton Smith (W.C.), and his sons with Mary Lou Carter; John Douglas Beaton (Jill), James Stanton Beaton (Vanessa) and eight grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Arcadia Retirement Residence as well as Malama Ola Health Services for their compassionate care during Gordon's later years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Punahou School in memory of Gordon Beaton '56. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
