Having met John in the 70s as a fellow Cartan tour manager in Hawai`i, it was late in life that John became my friend and mentor. I watched him continue to explore the world and share it with his wife, Carol, as they traveled adventurously, continuing their learning of our world's great diversity. I much admired how had funded a school for children in Southeast Asia in honor of his mother; how he shared adventure with his wife; how he continued to be excited about life and the world's various peoples and cultures to the very end. Aloha, John. RIP.
