Joseph Kanealii Obituary

JOSEPH JOE IOKEPA KANEALII Joseph "Joe" Iokepa Kanealii, 77, of Henderson, Nevada, died peacefully on Aug 11, 2024. Born September 20, 1946, in Honolulu, he was the eighth of 15 children. Raised in Papakolea, Joe was an avid Boy Scout who attained the highest ranking of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964, joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. Upon completion of his deployment, Joe earned a National Defense Service Medal. In 2009, after 41 years of employment, Joe retired from Wasa Electric Inc. He was loved and admired by all his nieces, nephews, friends and 'choke' hanai family. Joe's amusing and often comical personality will be sorely missed. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin & Rosaline Kanealii Sr., brothers: Benjamin Jr., Samuel and Isaac Kanealii; sisters: Dolores Bowen, Maile Baker, Kehau Higashi, Raynette Saito, Julie Ann Kanealii. Joe is survived by son, Travis Bowers; daughters: Linda Donner, Mechelle Lave, Ashley and Kristen Kanealii; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, brothers: Alfred and Kelii Kanealii; sisters: Hana Ralar, Wainani Yim, Honey Higa, and Lani Kaina; companion, Flo Rangasan; cousins: Pua Higashi, Lani Nishimura. Celebration of life on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Hawaiian Memorial Park & Cemetery: Visitation at 9:00 am, and Services at 10:00am. Final resting place will be at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery, Kailua-Kona, HI.
