I am sorry for your loss. Joey was a nice guy. We grew up with the Nozawa
boys back in the 1950's and early 1960's. We would help them
with their piggery chores, then we would go surfing at Kualoa Point.
We looked forward to Joey's birthday every year. On New Years eve, Mr.
Nozawa and sons would prepare the ground to cook the pig he slaughtered
earlier. Mrs. Nozawa ( Hana) would prepare the food. The pig went into
the ground earlier in the day. We would then go home and bathe and come
back later in the day for the feast. Everybody brought firecrackers to pop.
Back in those days all fireworks were legal. We had blast, and everyone
had a good time. Good memories.
