Julie Byrer Obituary
JULIE ELLISE BYRER Julie Ellise Byrer was born in Los Angeles, CA. on April 7, 1938 to Nebo and Dorothy Chausseur of Pasadena, CA. She was the eldest of two daughters. At a young age her family moved to Arcadia, CA where she would eventually graduate 1st in her high school class, graduating in only 3 years, and was the first graduating class of Arcadia High School in 1955. She was known as a "bookworm" by her friends and had dreams of life as an actress. She received a scholarship to Pasadena Playhouse but decided to attend Stanford University. Within her first few weeks at Stanford University, she met the man she would eventually spend the rest of her life with. Julie married James W. Byrer on August 18, 1957 at Julie's family home. The happy couple moved to San Diego where husband James, a U.S. Naval officer, was stationed. They eventually moved to Oahu, James' home island in (1962) where he served his last term in the U.S. Navy. James and Julie were blessed to embark on many travel adventures during their marriage. In 1972, they moved to their forever home in Maunawili, where they had two wonderful sons, James Jr. and Chris Byrer. After the birth of her sons, Julie enjoyed being a stay at home mom for nearly ten years and was very involved in their activities. From carpooling, to baseball and soccer coaching to room hen; she was the ultimate, do-it-all mom. She loved her sons immensely. As a family, they were blessed to continue to travel the world. In addition to traveling, Julie enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, where she tended to a wide range of flowers including her beautiful rose bushes. She loved crafts and hung many of her cross stitch and needlepoint works around the house. Crossword puzzles, including the daily New York Times puzzle was how she began her mornings with a cup of coffee. Her love for reading was apparent with dozens of books around the house. There wasn't a time without a fur baby around the house. She took care of 4 dogs at one point, loving each one unconditionally. Everyone's favorite skill was Julie's cooking. There wasn't anything she couldn't make. Her holiday dinners made her family feel extra special with a robust menu and various desserts. Not to mention her tablescape with a silk tablecloth and napkins, polished silverware, crystal glasses, and fine china. You really felt like royalty on that table! Julie held various job positions throughout her lifetime, each one as an invaluable asset. The one she spoke most highly of was her real estate partnership with one of her dear friends, Mary. Julie retired a successful realtor on Oahu. Julie's warm and caring heart was shared with her close group of friends. On and off for nearly 60 years, Julie really enjoyed bonding with her girlfriends. Meeting for lunch, cruising on a ship, holiday parties. She was extremely blessed to have so many friends who cared very deeply for her. Julie loved and adored her family. Her smile went from ear to ear and would warm any heart and brighten any room. She loved to spoil her three grandchildren and made sure their Christmas trees were bursting with presents each year. She savored each minute she had with them and would do anything for them. She would do anything for anyone. She was your biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader. It contented her to see those around her live happy and successful lives. Julie was the perfect Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. Julie and James were married for 63 years until Julie passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 28, 2021 at 83 years of age. She was survived by her husband, James W. Byrer, sons James Byrer Jr. (Quynh), Christopher Byrer (Jan) and three grandchildren. Julie will forever remain in our hearts and we will miss her deeply.
