Karen Tatum Obituary

KAREN LEE TATUM A beloved figure known for her radiant spirit and warm hospitality, passed away on October 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 73. Born on June 2, 1952, Karen graduated from La Pietra and was a vibrant presence whose personality lit up every room she entered. For 33 years, she was a cherished staple at the Outrigger Canoe Club, where she was affectionately known as the "hostess with the mostess." Without fail, she always wore a flower in her hair. Her genuine kindness and infectious energy left a lasting impression on members and guests alike. Karen's life was a testament to her adventurous spirit and love for Hawaii's natural beauty. On any given day, you could find her walking the beach of Waikiki or hiking up the stairs of Diamond Head. In 2022 Karen was diagnosed with cancer. Though the treatments were often difficult, they never diminished her unwavering spirit or her fierce lust for life. With the steadfast support and care of her partner of 36 years Alan Chapman, she faced her illness with remarkable grace and resilience, continuing to inspire those around her with her positivity. Karen is now free of any earthly restraints and walking the universe watching over all she loved, especially her one true love, Alan. Karen is survived by Alan and her sister, Terrie Tatum. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at the Outrigger Canoe Club on November 24, 2025, at 10am, to honor a woman who brought so much light and joy into the world. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
