KAREN YAMAOKA Obituary

KAREN Y. YAMAOKA Karen Yayoe (Murakane) Yamaoka passed away suddenly on July 19, 2023, at The Queen's Medical Center. She was born on August 18, 1943, in Kapulena, Hawaii. Throughout her life, Karen was known for her unwavering support for her family and friends. She had a love for cooking and her dream became a reality when she opened "Karen's Kitchen" in Kakaako, where she devoted her passion with aloha to making "Karen's Kitchen" a welcoming place for 30 years. She will forever be remembered for her genuine love, selflessness, and the positive impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Norio Yamaoka, Karen is survived by daughters Lori Eller (Michael Eller), and Keri Hauser; grandchildren: Tiani Ho, Ashley and Alex Eller, Tyler and Karlie Hauser; sisters: Amy Aoyagi, Kumiko Nakashima, Iku New, Corliss Hirae and brother Oran Murakane. She was a Christian as well as a member of Sukyo Mahikari. Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Hosoi Mortuary.
