Kathryn Kaohi Obituary

Kathryn Cabrinha Kaohi Kathryn Cabrinha Kaohi, cherished daughter, sister, wife, and mother passed away on April 11th, 2024. Born in Albuquerque, NM, she grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado on a working ranch where she developed her lifelong love of animals. Kate lived in Boston for a brief time and eventually moved to Oahu to help care for her grandmother. Here, she met her future husband Kevin, when Kevin was hired at the accounting firm Kate was working at in 1989. On August 19, 1991, they got married on the back porch of the ranch in Glenwood Springs and went on to have two daughters. Her father being a talented singer, Kate loved folk songs and singing children's songs to her daughters. Welcoming and compassionate, their house was a gathering place for friends and family. Kate always had pets ranging from cats and a dog named Gwen, a litter of kittens born in her bed, and later two other dogs, a button quail, guinea pigs and a few more cats. A devout reader who believed strongly in literacy and education, Kate was always ready to discuss books and her favorite authors and could be counted on for her humorous wit and expansive vocabulary. Services will be held on May 31st, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Valley of the Temples. In honor of Kate, please consider donating to Hawaii Public Radio, of which she was a fan and supporter. She leaves behind husband Kevin, daughters Lei'ala and Anuhea, and brother David Cabrinha. Arrangements Provided By: Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary
