Kay Shimabukuro Obituary

KAY KAMEKO SHIMABUKURO Kay Kameko Shimabukuro, 98, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at Kalakaua Gardens. Born on August 6, 1926, in Ewa to Kame and Makato Katekaru and raised in Mill Camp, Waianae. She was a cook and manager at Stewart's Restaurant in Niu Valley Shopping Center, then worked at Sei's Restaurant in Kaimuki, and finally retired from Yum Yum Tree Kahala. Preceded in death by her husband Masao Shimabukuro and brothers Masato, Luke, and Herbert Katekaru. Survived by sister Gladys Asato; sisters-in-law Sandra Hatakeyama, Grace Katekaru and Deanna Katekaru; nephews and nieces, Glenn Asato, Cynthia Yamauchi, Cora Cho, Lance Katekaru, Lisa Nakasone, Joy Oshita, Reid Katekaru, Cheryl Yamato, Keri Ohara, Tod Shimabukuro, Sy Shimabukuro, Mona Asato, Susan Uejo, Brian Uejo, Lydia Yee, Gayle Amoy, Lori Hatakeyama, and Eric Hatakeyama; and many grandnephews, grandnieces, great- grandnephews and great-grand- nieces. Her beautiful smile and loving personality will be missed by all. Private Services were held. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
