KENNETH NAKAMURA Obituary

KENNETH KANEO KEN KANE NAKAMURA 92 years old, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 10th. Born November 1930 in Lahaina, Maui and was the eldest son of Susumu and Misayo Nakamura and 3 other siblings: Paula Okamoto, Mildred Ihara and Michael Nakamura (preceded). Ken was a multi sport athlete at Lahainaluna High School Class of 1950. He was the Football Team Captain in1949 and 1950. In 1949 the Lunas won the Maui Interscholastic League Championship and Ken was selected the All Maui Football League Most Valuable Player. In 1951 Kenneth registered for the draft and was inducted into The United States Marine Corp. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the "Expert Marksman" designation. Kenneth married his high school sweetheart Natsue Takesue in 1952 and began raising a family of 4 sons: Carl, Neil, Keith, and Bruce.He started a career in carpentry and would work his way up to Construction Project Superintendent for Hawaiian Dredging and Construction and A C Kobayashi. During the Construction Boom beginning in the 70's through the 90's the Hawaiian Dredging company assigned Kenneth to major construction projects on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. With the passing of his first wife Kenneth then married Pola Tsukada and added to the family: a Stepson, Royden and Stepdaughter, Tyleen. In retirement Dad enjoyed Cooking, planning and supervising carpentry projects at home, cheering on the Lahainaluna High School Teams, UH Football and listening to Hawaiian Music. Kenneth is survived by 5 Sons and a Daughter: Carl, Neil, Keith, and Bruce, StepChildren: Royden Tsukada, Tyleen Tsuneoka and 10 Grand Children and 9 Great Grand Children. Services to be held at Diamond Head Memorial Park, 529 18th Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816. Date: Thursday, July 13, 2023 Visitation: 10:30 am - 11:30 am Service: 11:30 pm - 12:30 pm Reception: 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Inurnment: 2:00 pm Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
