KIRSTY STODDARD Obituary
KIRSTY MONTAGUE STODDARD Team Humanity lost a key player when Kirsty Montague Stoddard of Kaneohe, HI passed away suddenly in her sleep on August 9, 2024. Born in Greenfield, MA on October 19, 1976 to Betsy Stoddard and Peter Stoddard, Kirsty was a ray of sunshine to everyone who knew her. Kirsty graduated from Punahou School in 1995 after the family moved to Hawaii in 1981. She was a 5th generation descendent of Amos Starr Cooke and Juliette Montague Cooke, who were a part of the eighth company of American missionaries who sailed to Hawaii in 1836. Kirsty went on to Colorado State University after Punahou and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1999. Kirsty was a proverbial salesman of the best sort, one who could see what people needed and help them meet those needs. Her career path was interesting in its variation; she sold everything from video games and pencils, to cosmetics, furniture, and cemetery plots, often leading the sales departments she worked in. Her skills in sales were obvious, and she invested herself in every job she had and everyone she worked with. Animals were a passion of Kirsty's. She toyed with the idea of being a veterinarian, but balked at the large farm animal unit early in her college career. Let's just say in-depth exams on cows and horses made her pause. Dogs, cats, and other smaller animals were more her speed. Her love and care for every animal she came across was extraordinary. Most recently she fed and cared for a flock of feral chickens who lived near her home, ingratiating herself to them so well that they would fly onto her head when they saw her. It is amazing that she kept her household pet count so low. A life cut short is a tragic thing, and in this case it was doubly tragic; Kirsty was recently working with her partner Steve to launch a business. We all know she would have made it successful and awesome. It is also tragic because Kirsty was a friend to so many people. Often making others a priority before herself, Kirsty was always trying to help out and be thoughtful to others. She overcame a few key struggles in her life with aplomb, and worked hard to maintain relationships with so many near and far to her. She loved nothing more than giving. Kirsty is survived by her parents, Betsy Stoddard of Kailua, HI and Peter Stoddard of Honolulu, HI, her sister Schuyler Stoddard Bogel, brother-in-law Alex Bogel, and twin nieces Ainsley and Eliza Bogel of Shelburne, MA. Her nieces will miss their Aunty Monty forever. She is also survived by her partner Steve Kaneko of Kaneohe, HI and his loving family who were wonderful to her. There are many more family members and close friends who are devastated in the wake of her untimely passing. The world needs more people like Kirsty on Team Humanity. A memorial service will be arranged for late 2024. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Kirsty's memory to the Oahu SPCA.
