Eric Keawe
July 20, 2024
My last visit with Aki was at Kaimana Beach where he hung out recently. He loved music. I met Aki within the last 10 years at China's Annual Longboard contest. I offered China to play music when it was allowed. Aki would always call me and asked if our Keawe family would come back and play again. It was my daughter Pomaika'i, her daughter Malie, her son Iosepa and myself. It was fun times. Aki loved Hawaiian music. He'd call just to talk story to see how we were. He enjoyed gatherings for events.
We would like to also extend our condolences to his family and wish Aki well in the Heavens. Akua Iesu Pu. Amene

I surfed out at Canoe's Saved the Japanese tourist had my Lifeguard Certificate and First Aid during my time I saved Aki's life right outside the Beach Center one day in 1972 he forgot to take his med's and I had to render Aid. He was my buddy at work like all the Beachboys I worked with back in the 70's. I paddled for Hawaiian Warriors under the direction of Sammy Steamboat. Aki had a big heart and love for his family, friends, and the Ocean. Aki organized a Paddle out with all the Beach boys to go out on Canoe's and Surfboards when my brither J.R. passed in 1995. My brother was a Surfer, Musician and Artist and Aki knew my brother and of course being my pal he wanted to help me out in the Scattering of my Brother J.R. Aki will be well missed.
