Mary M. Leslie "Leshney" Marks, 93, of Edwardsville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.
Mary Marks was raised in Avoca and graduated in 1948 from Avoca High School. A member of the former St. Hedwig's and then St. Ignatius parishes, she was also involved with the Mother's Guild and Rosary Society. She loved spending quality time with all of her children and family, especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary loved to cook, whether it be for the family, baking Christmas cookies or volunteering her time to help make pierogi. Everyone always admired her roses blooming in the summer time where you'd find her trimming in the yard. She was a special soul that many admired, cherished by many, touched the hearts of everyone that had ever met her and she was a true blessing who will be missed and loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary K. Klush Leslie; father, Wasyl Leslie; loving husband of 55 years, Daniel A. Marks Sr.; and granddaughter, Nicole Bolesta.
Mary is survived by her sons, Daniel A. Marks Jr. and wife, Roxanne, Richmondsville, N.Y.; Paul Marks and wife, Marlene, Hanover, Md.; Tony Marks and wife, Joanne, Kingston; daughters, Ann Marie Marks and husband, George Colburn, Old Forge; and Mary Katherine Marks and Alex Poplawski, Wilkes-Barre; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I was a friend of one of her grandchildren. Spent lots of time with her throughout my teen years and early adult hood. Gathering at grandma's house was the best! She will be loved and remembered by many forever.
