LARRY LEDOUX Obituary

LARRY V. LEDOUX Sunrise 11.6.1942 Sunset 6.7. 2025 Larry was born in Sacramento, CA., the eldest of 9 children. He attended Cal. State University where he earned BA and MA degrees. He then moved to Hawaii where he met the love of his life Judy Bea Pulis. They married in Reno, Nev. in 1970, then went to Eugene, Oregon where Larry earned his PhD in English in 1973. After returning to Hawaii they lived in Kaneohe and were married for 52 years until Judys passing in 2022. Larry taught at Iolani School and then Hawaii Pacific University, where he was a tenured professor from 1992-2013. He taught classes in writing, literature, humanities, art history and journalism, and developed the Journalism program and curriculum. As a writer he received 17 National awards as a Journalism instructor and advisor for the HPU student newspaper Kalamalama. Larry was also involved in public relations and advertising, with clients including Hawaii's top artists and art galleries. He specialized in marketing artists and art appraisals, and was an agent for the renowned Makk family of artists. Larry and Judy also raised hundreds of exotic birds at their Kahaluu home and aviary, a true labor of love. In later years he developed Parkinson's Disease and his family would like to thank AnnaMaria Maugeri, Kyle Moore, Delphine McInerney, Mureen Walker and Janet Spivey for their devoted, loving care and companionship. Larry and Judy had no children. He is survived by 7 siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews in the Sacramento area. We all miss you Larry. Your ashes and Judy's will be scattered in Kahaluu. Aloha pumehana.
