LAWRENCE WAH JUN SIU July 11, 1936 - June 21, 2025 Lawrence "Larry" Wah Jun Siu, 88, was born on July 11, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii and peacefully passed away on June 21, 2025, a day after celebrating his 66th wedding anniversary. He graduated from McKinley High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the ROTC Program in 1958 and assigned to Ft. Benning, Georgia for training and then served two years active duty at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne Division, Honor Guard Company. When he returned to Hawaii, he worked a year for the Honolulu Advertiser as a Staff Artist. He was subsequently employed as a Full-Time Technician with the Nike Hercules Missile Program, Hawaii Army National Guard, and later retired from the Army and the Hawaii Army National Guard as a Colonel and G1/Military Personnel Officer, State Headquarters, at Fort Ruger. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit and the Hawaii Army National Guard Medal for Merit, and he was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and the Command & General Staff College. Upon retiring, Lawrence spent much time with his family and started his own business called "Creations by Lawrence" where he created personalized, hand-painted shirts. He was also actively involved with various clubs previously serving as the past President for multiple organizations to include the United Chinese Society, Chung Shan Association of Hawaii, Kwangtung Community Honolulu Lin Yee Hui, Lung Doo Benevolent Society, Siu Society of Hawaii, Hawaii Chinese Civic Association, NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association), and the McKinley Alumni Association. Survived by wife, Sandra; daughters, Lori Anne (John) Ching, Debra Lynne (Derek) Kam, Barbara (Todd) Nitta, Valerie (Eric) Goo; and seven grandchildren: Jerrica Ching (Kevin Kim), Jerrin Ching, Jerrisa Ching Choe (Young Min Choe), Mackenzie Nitta, Trisha Nitta, Ryland Goo, and Tamryn Goo. A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Hawaiian Memorial Park, 45-425 Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe. Visitation from 9:00am to 10:00am with Service to follow.
