Leland Ozawa Obituary

Leland K. Ozawa, age 80, died on September 21, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lee was born on December 16, 1943 at Queens's Hospital, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents Dr. Walter Minoru Ozawa and Catherine Keonaona Sims of Kailua.

'Lee' was the second of four siblings. He had an older and younger brother, as well as a younger sister. He spent his boyhood in Kailua and after proudly being expelled from Punahou, completed his high school education at Staunton Military Academy in Staunton Virginia in 1961. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served a tour in Vietnam.

After the his enlistment, he learned to fly and was hired by Northwest Airlines in 1966. He flew northwest for 37 years and retired in 2005. After retirement, Lee continued to fly in the Las Vegas area for Vision Airlines conducting Grand Canyon tours and mentoring young pilots. In 2009, Lee became a government contractor and served in Iraq at the US army forward operating base in Mosul, Iraq.

Lee was married three times and is survived by 3 sons (Keith, Lindsey, and Lincoln), 6 grand children, and 3 great grandchildren. One of Lee's biggest joys was the study of genealogy, in particular his Hawaiian ohana; The Lindseys of Waimea.

There will be a graveside service on July 8th, 11am at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, with an ash scattering the following day.
