I was so very sorry to hear of the recent passing of Leta. I came to know Leta through my mom Marion Kettleson. Marion was a leader of a group called Canadian Girls in Training (C.G.I.T.) at Central United Church in Calgary Alberta Canada in the early 1950s and Leta was one of the teenage girls in her group. Leta and Marion remained lifelong friends thereafter. Both my mom and I separately visited Leta when she lived in California and both of us travelled to Oahu several times and were treated to Leta's exceptional hospitality. Leta was a fun character! I remember when my husband and I and our four children came to Oahu in October and Leta arranged for us to meet for supper. Then, all dressed up in halloween costumes we went out on the main drag of Waikiki to experience the aloha way of celebrating this event. This is only one example of the fun she created. On my mom's 90th birthday, 13 years ago, Leta made sure to time her vacation so she could attend the special celebration we had for my mom. Marion is now 102 years old and although she suffers with dementia I am certain she will remember her good friend Leta and will also be saddened to hear of her passing.
The first picture below was of Leta and her husband Bob in California in 1976. The second picture was in 2012 at Marion's 90th birthday in Calgary.
