Lorna Lo Obituary

LORNA LEE LO We lost a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and superwoman on November 11, 2023 after a rich and full life. Lorna Hung Kee Lee was born on July 27, 1930 to John Duck Sau Lee and Florence Chew Gum Wong of Makiki. She attended Roosevelt High School where she met her future husband Richard Cheong Lo. Graduated from UH-Manoa, then taught school in Chicago while Richard attended Northwestern Law School. Lorna worked as an elementary school teacher and travel agent. She was known to family and friends as a great hostess and an adventurous cook, passing down her love of food to her children and grandchildren. She was interested in many activities and had a zest for life. She danced hula and played ukulele and nose flute while patiently raising five active children and nine grandchildren. At Kalakaua Gardens, she volunteered as the Vice President of Residents and mahjongg teacher. Richard passed away in 1996. She is also predeceased by her siblings Lillian "Eio" Chu and Edwin "Boody" Lee. Survivors include her sisters Barbara Tongg and Diana Komagome, children Lynette Lo Tom (Neal Kanda), Joanne Lo Grimes (Tom), Charlene Chan (Wesley), Russell Lo (Kimberli Komo) and Barry Lo (Bunnie Smith), grandchildren: Jenny Tom Lin; Sara Jean, Ian Richard and Ginger Lee Grimes; Hannah Claire and Cameron David Chan; Alyssa Zoe Lo; Brielle Lilinoe and Dane Keoni Lo; great grandsons Owen Thomas Matteo and Theo David Lin. Services at Nuuanu Memorial Park Jan. 14, 2024. Public visitation 9:30 a.m., Service 11:00 a.m. Aloha Attire. In lieu of wreaths, contributions in remembrance may be made to Roosevelt Alumni Foundation or to Lanakila Pacific where Lorna volunteered delivering meals for Lanakila Meals on Wheels.
