LOURDES ACOJIDO Obituary

LOURDES BENSAN ACOJIDO Lourdes Bensan Acojido (n?e: Maria Lourdes Bensan), 105, of Ewa, Hawaii, born March 12, 1919 in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, passed peacefully on August 16, 2024 with her loved ones by her side. Lourdes Bensan was educated at La Consolacion College in Manila where she graduated with a degree in elementary education, then taught English at Paniqui Elementary School, Paniqui, Tarlac. She married Eugenio M. Acojido (deceased 1991), and resided in Ewa Plantation, where they raised a family of 4 children, Mary Lou (Lando) Perez, Eugene (Marla) Acojido, Berta (Chris) Herndon, and Evangeline Lee (deceased 1990; spouse, Rodney, deceased 2021). She was a prolific reader, enjoyed gardening and sewing patchwork quilt blankets for her family. In addition to English and Spanish, she was also fluent in Pangasinan, Ilocano, Tagalog and Pampango, dialects of the Philippines. In the 1960s, she was recruited to teach Peace Corps volunteers before they were transferred to the Philippines. Our Mom, Grandma, Lola lived her 105 years to the fullest. Her legacy and life's values will live on through her children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.
