LYLE PONT Obituary

LYLE MAYNARD DU PONT Sadly, Lyle, age 85, of Ahuimanu, HI, passed away on the August 17, 2025. He was born in Waialua, Oahu, and raised in Wahiawa. Lyle was a proud graduate of the Kamehameha Schools for Boys, Class of 1957. He also attended Colorado State University on a golf scholarship. Coming from a law-enforcement oriented family, he dedicated much of his life to public service, first as a police officer at the Honolulu Police Dept. for 10 years, attaining the rank of Detective and Sergeant. He transferred to the Dept. of the Attorney General, State of Hawaii, and retired as Assistant Chief of Investigations. During this time, he attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy's law enforcement management training program in Quantico, VA. After retirement, he went on to become the Security Division Manager for Daiei USA Inc. Not able to stay retired again for very long, he then joined the State of Hawaii, Dept. of Public Safety, as a Special Investigator, as his last professional job. Lyle enjoyed playing many sports, and especially loved playing golf. An avid golfer, who experienced his first hole-in-one at the age of 10, he also had three more while enjoying his many years on the golf course. He was respected by many, and always willing to help family, friends and neighbors. Lyle is survived by his loving wife Brenda of 55 years, and best furry friend Ehukai. Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand/great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, godchildren, neighbors and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Gabriel & Lillian Du Pont, brothers Holbrook "Bert" (Amanda), Clyde (Beth), and sister Daryl Jean Aiwohi (Herbert). Services to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025 at St. Ann Church, 46-129 Haiku Road, Kaneohe. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. Program begins at 10:30 a.m. Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial at 1:30 p.m., Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary. No flowers. In lieu of flowers, and if you wish to do so, donations may be made to the Pauahi Foundation Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund, or a charity of your choice in Lyle's memory.
