Mae Kimura Obituary

MAE MIDORI KIMURA 93, of Aiea, passed away in Pearl City on October 22, 2025. A retired teacher for the Department of Education, she taught at Puuhale Elementary, Pearl City Highlands Elementary, Pearl City Elementary, Nanaikapono Elementary, and retired from Pearl Ridge Elementary, where she was a founding staff member. She was born in Makawao, Maui. At the age of 10, she and her family were interned at Jerome and Tule Lake Internment Camps during the war. When released, her family returned to Hawaii and settled in Paauilo on the island of Hawaii. She graduated from Honokaa High and received a Bachelor's and Master's of Education from University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is survived by husband, Shigeo; son, Kent (Geraldine) Kimura; daughters, Joanne Kimura, and Lynne (Steve) Cegler; grandchildren, Kyle Cegler (Marisa Chock), Kelli Kimura (Shradhan Shrivastav), and Kristi Kimura; brother, Wilfred (Martha) Yoshimasu; brother-in-law, Bob Oyama; and predeceased by sister, Mabel Oyama. Visitation at 9 am, Service at 10 am on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Nuuanu Congregational Church (2651 Pali Hwy). A private inurnment will be held at Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery.
