Mary Brooks Obituary

MARY FISCHER BROOKS Mary Fischer Brooks, age 71, of Kailua, Oahu, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her on Wednesday evening, June 18, 2025, after a 10-year struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on June 30, 1953, the daughter of Evelyn and Robert Fischer of Fond du Lac, both now deceased. Mary met her future husband Bill Brooks on a blind date in Hilo, Hawaii during her visit there in the spring of 1977. She returned to live in Hawaii in 1978 and she and Bill were married the following year on August 25, 1979. They were married for 46 years. They lived on Oahu where Mary was a beloved teacher at Waiokeola Church Preschool for 15 years. After she retired from teaching she obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obtaining her college degree was a life-long goal. She volunteered for 2 years as a driver with Meals on Wheels, and for 4 years with Hospice Hawaii. She was a devoted wife and mother and an inspiration to her friends and community. Mary is survived by her sisters Karen, Susan and Nancy of Wisconsin, husband Bill, daughters Laura and Kristin and grandsons Brody and Charlie of New Zealand. There is a new angel in Heaven.
