May Koike Obituary

MAY CHISEKO KOIKE May Chiseko Koike, 96, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at the Queen's Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Kainaliu, Hawaii to Kenji and Tsuya Imai, the 4th of 11 children. She met her future husband, Masaru while working at Kuakini Hospital; she as a nurse and he as an X-ray technician. She moved to Chicago to marry Masaru while he was attending medical school at The University of Chicago. Life then took them to Detroit, Michigan where they started a family and Masaru finished his residency. In 1959 they moved back to Hawaii and May spent her years raising her 4 children, volunteering and working beside her husband in his office (loving every minute of it). She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, smiling face, laughter and helping hand. May is survived by her children: Anna Schuyler (Mike), John Koike, Kathy Puetz (Richard) and Alan Koike; 4 grandchildren: Sean Schuyler, Zachary Puetz, Heather and Maya Koike; brother, Patrick Imai; sisters, Margaret Fujikawa and Mary Kawane. Private services will be held. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
