MICHAEL Y. ASADA Michael Y. Asada, 76, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, died November 5, 2023 in Renton, Washington. Born June 7, 1947, in Pu'unene, Maui, to the late Yoshio and Kikuno Asada. He retired from Hawaii Electric Company in customer service, and was a member of Daifukuji Soto Mission and was president of the Kona Daifukuji Taiko group. Celebration of life services will be held at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo on December 29, 2023. Visitation at 3 p.m. followed by 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire worn and no flowers. He is survived by wife, Cindy Asada of Captain Cook; daughter, Lyanne (Drew) O'Connell of Renton, WA.; hanai son, Chris (Kate) Cantor of Des Moines, IA.; hanai daughters, Jaynell Cantor of Kent, WA., and Chauntelle (Landon) Buckingham of Shoreline, WA.; brother, Richard (Sheryl) Asada of Stevens Point, WI.; sister, Lynn (Larry) Cook of Clinton, AR.; sister-in-law, Gail Asada of Kaneohe, Oahu; hanai sisters, Nika Cantor and Glendora (Sis) Guy of Captain Cook; 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
