Michael Lee Obituary

MICHAEL LEE 65, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on October 22, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents Corrine and Edward Lee, and raised in Pauoa and Manoa valleys. Always open for a good time, he lived life to the fullest. Thoughtful and introspective by nature, he also led an impulsive, carefree life; filled with lots of adventure, long-lasting friendships and meaningful pursuits. Michael graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975, and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Hawaii in 1986, and a master's degree in Library and Information Sciences in 1990. He started his career as a librarian at Nanaikapono Elementary, then transferred to his alma mater Roosevelt High School. He later decided to switch from the library to the classroom and taught world history and religion until his retirement in 2019. Surfing, baseball, and music were always important parts of his life from his youth through retirement. Coaching baseball also became a passion of his when his sons became involved in team sports. He spent his remaining years pursuing his love of traveling with his wife, watching his sons play college baseball, and standup surfing. Michael is survived by wife Susan, sons Devin and Edward, sister Donna (Barry) Fitzgerald, and his two dogs Bosco and Penny. A private Celebration of Life was held in his honor.
