Michael Smolinski Obituary

Michael Denis Smolinski

September 5, 1938 - June 30, 2025

In Loving Memory of Michael Denis Smolinski.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Denis Smolinski, a devoted husband, loving father, faithful servant of God, and a man who could read a green like no other. He departed this life peacefully on Monday, June 30th at the age of 86 surrounded by the love of his family.

Michael was born on September 5, 1938, in Kenosha, WI to Fred and Mildred Smolinski. He was educated in the Kenosha school systems, graduating from Mary D Bradford High School in 1956. When working at Wisconsin Gas and Electric, he was called up to serve in the Army during the Berlin Crisis. Following his discharge from service, he earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration from Carthage College while working at Dynamite Corporation, Michael served as a manager in the computer systems department and as plant manager during his 37 years of employment there. He later went on to work at Hydrothermal Corp in Waukesha as a consultant in computer manufacturing software systems. While working there, he was voted employee of the year in 2011. He retired in 2015.

Mike and Sue met in 1957 and married on December 27, 1961. They welcomed their wonderful son, Todd in 1967 and then their treasured daughter, Beth in 1971. He served faithfully as an elder for many years at First Assembly of God and Prayer House in Kenosha. Over the last 14 years, Mike and Sue have been members of Crossway Community Church in Bristol.

For 63 beautiful years, he was the cherished husband of Sue, a partnership rooted in love, faith, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a life full of laughter, strength, and purpose-an example of true devotion to God, his family and all who knew them.

As a father, Mike, was nothing short of amazing-steadfast, wise, and endlessly supportive. He poured love into his family and lived out his faith daily, offering not just guidance but a legacy of integrity, compassion, and strength. His habit was to begin each morning, sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bible before starting his day.

A humble yet powerful man of God, his faith shaped everything he did. He led by example-quietly, faithfully, and without fanfare-impacting the lives of everyone around him. Whether through church service, a word of encouragement, or a warm smile, his light shone brightly.

When he wasn't spending time with family or serving others, you could find him on the golf course-his happy place. He was one heck of a golfer, winning the Kenosha County Open Golf Championship 7 times and also winning the Wisconsin State Public Links Championship. He was known for his smooth swing, steady patience, and the joy he brought to every round.

He leaves behind a family who adored him. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the years we had, and we rejoice in knowing he has heard the words he lived his life to hear: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Michael is preceded in death by his wonderful son, Todd (Carrie) and survived by his beloved wife, Sue; his treasured daughter, Beth (John); amazing daughter-in-law, Carrie; loving and fun grandchildren: Andrew (Gelah), Michael, Luke, TJ and Katherine; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

A celebration of his life and faith will be held on July 8th at Crossway Church in Bristol with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m., a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the Smolinski-Romero family kindly and graciously ask that donations be made to assist the family with unexpected medical and funeral expenses in Michael's honor.

Mike, I will miss you so much! I´m so glad we were able to share lunch several weeks ago. I´m so sorry I wasn´t able to get you on the golf course again. I will cherish every round of golf, every text, every phone call and voice mail.
I know you played 18 today and probably a smooth 72
