Michael Wirkus Obituary
October 9, 1953 - December 19, 2025
Michael J. Wirkus, age 72, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wauwatosa. He was born on October 9, 1953, son of the late James and Delphus (Nee: Bauknecht) Wirkus.
Mike was a graduate of J.I. Case High School, "Class of 1971". On July 16, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Stewart. He had a great work ethic and was employed by Modine Mfg. for many years until his retirement. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. It was time spent with family that he cherished most.
He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his wife, Cheryl, of 31 years; children, Emily (Adam) Falaschi, Jeremy (Paula) Luedtke, Eric (Enmy) Luedtke; 7 grandchildren: Nadia, Lily, Hunter, Preston, Frankie, Jameson and Hannah; sisters, Gail Salinas, Pat (Gerry) Delleman, Kim Litrenta, Cathy Wirkus, Tracy (Rick) Kutch; sister-in-law, Linda (Charles) Fulmer; special nephew; Jimmy Wirkus; special cousin, Charlie Bauknecht; special longtime friends, Earl (Amy) Ball; other nieces; nephews; relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parent's, he was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Wirkus; brothers, Scott Wirkus, Jim Wirkus; and his sister, Sue Friso.
A Memorial Service celebrating Mike's life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service.
