It´s so sad. Neal had tickets to Japan (to golf with his buddies) that weekend. We´re the same age. He´s quite an icon in Hawaii. President of the Central Pacific Bank followed by CEO of many Hawaiian Companies who took his direction to succeed.
Mainly, he was gentle, conscientious &
funny. I was lucky to live with him & Aunty Nobu & Uncle Minoru. He pooked lots of fun at me, & we laughed so much.
I first met Neal when we were 10. He showed me how to catch birds with a box & string. I´ve loved him since then. Returning at 25,
I had 3 waitress jobs that summer and Neal encouraged me ...assured me, that a teaching job would come. After a few months, I left for home.
We had long conversations about
life, love, marriage, etc.
His core was Sean & the
love and gratitude he had for his parents who helped raise him.
Every time I returned to
Hawaii, he would tell me more about our family´s history. It was important
to him. His gracious hospitality with Lynnette was amazing. He was very proud of all her accomplishments . I took it for
granted, that I´d see him again & again.
There is no closure for
the loss of Neal. All of us will fan the flames of his memory. Keeping his
stories and the glint in his eye as he spun many more, will be embraced
often.
He was devastated when Ko passed, and wanted no more loss. He was ever loyal & protective.
We will always miss him.
Just thought I´d send you my thoughts.
Laugh & make joy with your beautiful family in honor of him
