NORMAN YANG Obituary

NORMAN Y.J. YANG, DDS Norman Y.J. Yang, DDS, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Kaneohe on May 20, 2023 at the age of 97. He was born in Honolulu on April 10, 1926 to Moon Sur Yang and Maul Chool Park. Norman attended Maryknoll School in Honolulu. He served in the US Army in Korea, then attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thereafter he earned his degree in dentistry from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. For many years he provided dental service to the communities of windward Oahu from his dental office in Windward City. He was a member of the Hawaii Dental Research and Education Group and also served on the State of Hawaii Board of Dentistry. He lived life fully. He loved his family and enjoyed close friendships, many of them lifelong. He loved his dogs, Benji and, most recently, Balthazar. He performed dental work up to the age of 85. He was an avid golfer and played far up into his nineties. Norman wanted to thank the doctors and staff at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital and Clinics and St. Francis Hospice. He is survived by his wife Gladys Aiko and daughter Melanie "Mimi." A service was held with family at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Arrangements by Grace Mortuary, Kaneohe. Please, no koden.
