Oh Orby... Mr. Groves... I just learned of your passing many
months late. Thank you for the kindness you showed me, for sharing your wonderful family, and for always making feel welcome. Much love and Blessings. RIP.

I remember my Dad taking us all on an epic summer trip across the mainland USA, visiting relatives and seeing the sights, in a Winnebago that slept 5, except there were 8 of us. What fun their 20th anniversary must have been, stuck in a parking lot with a broken axle in Deadwood, South Dakota, and 6 kids. Still going strong for 73 years. Amazing and astounding! Dear God, we miss him.

I have had the privilege of working for then-major Groves in the early 70´s as sergeant-in-charge of Crime Reduction Unit, Pearl City/Wai´anae. I reported directly to him for 3 years. One of the best supervisors I´ve had in my 30-year career! May God Bless his soul as he enters the Kingdom of Heaven!

He was my Sector Sergeant as a ftptlmn downtown. He was always around providing info and checking on us. Also worked under him in Vice-Gambling. He was new to the field, but learned quickly and worked with us to get the job done. His retirement and progression to Feds was admirable. One of those who made me proud to be one of Honolulu´s Finest!

I remember Orby from our many times together ;n Boy Scout Troop 8 in Honolulu during World War II. I haven't seen him since, but he was a good fellow then and I trust ever since.

I remembered him as Retired HPD Major Vice Division. Then Retired IRS Officer where we became friends but I'll always remember one Sunday about 100 pm on a Hot Beautiful Day. I saw him jogging on Kamehameha HWY to keep in shape.
