Owen Miyamoto Obituary

OWEN MIYAMOTO 94, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died in Honolulu on May 18, 2023. His spouse Betty (Takei) Miyamoto predeceased him on January 22, 2018. They had no children. Owen was the son of Yuji and Naka Miyamoto and is survived by sisters Betty (Miyamoto) Suzuki, Eunice Miyamoto, brother Ray Miyamoto and many beloved nieces and nephews. Owen was the Airport Administrator for the State of Hawaii from 1969-1996. He managed the completion of the Honolulu International Airport (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport) Reef Runway in 1977. The 12,000-foot Reef Runway was the first major airport runway to be built completely offshore on underwater coral. A memorial service for both Owen and Betty Miyamoto will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Nuuanu Congregational Church. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
