Padraic Shigetani Obituary

PADRAIC ISAMI SHIGETANI died on February 15, 2026 at the age of 70 after fighting colorectal cancer for two years. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Summer, and sister Kate. Padraic was born in Honolulu, attended Maemae Elementary, Kawananakoa Intermediate, McKinley High School (Class of 1973) and got a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He moved to Los Angeles and formed Youngblood, Padraic & Associates doing computer related advertisement and packaging. After 17 years, he moved back to Hawaii to raise his family. He got a job at the Star-Bulletin/Star-Advertiser doing advertisements as well as Real Estate magazines and publications. After another 17 years at the Star-Advertiser, he retired at the age of 64 years old because of the COVID epidemic. NOTE: The following was written by Padraic when he was first diagnosed with cancer and asked that it be added to his obituary. It's been a wonderful life. I got to see New York, London, Paris, Utah, Arizona, and all of California. Places I never thought I'd see and things I never thought I'd accomplish. These past two years have been filled with doctor appointments, re-reading old poetry books, and watching every episode of Star Trek on DVD. For you fans, [episodes of] TOS, TNG, Voyager, and DS9. At a company motivational meeting, we were asked, "What's one thing the other 20 artists and employees don't know about you?" I said, "I love blue shave ice with vanilla ice cream at the bottom." Someone said, "Wait... isn't blue shave ice vanilla flavored and you're having it on top of vanilla ice cream?" I replied, "Can't you see, that's the pure perfection of it!"
