Patricia Mau-Shimizu Obituary

RIP, Pat. Remember in Peace.

Pat was "the keeper of the gate." No lawyer in this town or in our Island State would be what (s)he is today if it were not for Pat's deep devotion "to take care." She took care of all lawyers, the entire HSBA & everyone who w I rk with or for her. Pat guided & counseled young lawyers through the HSBA's Leadership Institute, and made better seasoned practitioner's serving year-after-year on the HSBA BOD. IF you were one fortunate to have been guided by Pat @ HSBA Board level, you are a better person for it. Pat FORCED you to think, push & get it done. There will never be another JD like her. She'll be missed. NEVER forgotten. ALWAYS appreciated.

Dear Family of Pat Mau-Shimizu:

I had the great privilege of working with Pat during my time at ODC. She was very kind to me. She freely shared her thoughts and resources whenever I sought her help to the benefit of both ODC and the Bar. I will always treasure the memories of her generosity and kindness to me. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Pat was an excellent Executive Director of the HSBA. She was hired and started while I was Pres. Elect. She spoke to me as though we had known each other for years and made me feel confident that all would be very good and she knew all that was needed. She was wise and caring, while straight forward.
She has since continued to make HSBA thrive and take care of everything like
a mother hen with all the chickens under foot. We will surely miss her.
