Patsy Chun Obituary

PATSY ISAYO ORITA CHUN Our beloved mother, Patsy Isayo Orita, 87, of Aiea, HI, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2024. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and caring friend. Mom was born June 22, 1936 in Honolulu, HI to Jitsuichi and Kishiye Orita of Waipahu, HI. Mom earned a BEd in Elementary Education (1958) and a MEd in Counseling & Guidance (1986). She was an teacher and counselor in the Pearl City area elementary schools until retiring in 1996. She had a second career as a tour escort for Royal Adventure Travel, specializing in Japan Tours until suffering a stroke in 2018. Mom enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being in the company of family and friends. She wanted most to be remembered as a kind person and touched many with her warmth, humility, humor, and generosity. She was preceded in death by husband, George C. K. Chun and brother, Gerald (Lynn) Orita and is survived by four children, Cheryl, Robyn (Steve), Dale (Alan) and Ian (Joanne); nine grand- children, Lessa (Chad), Kevlar, Skye, Kai, Chester, Jonah, Megan, David and Kristi; and brothers, James Orita of Los Angeles, CA and Adam (Kim) Orita of Fairfax, VA. Visitation on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 9:30 AM at Borthwick Mortuary Maunakea Chapel, followed by service at 10:30 AM. Private burial at Punchbowl National Cemetery on May 20, 2024.
