PAUL KUDO Obituary

PAUL MASARU KUDO Paul Masaru Kudo passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023 with his wife Alice, son Brian and Daughter Cathy at his hospital bedside. Paul was 77 and was predeceased by parents Albert and Yuriko Kudo, and brothers George and Kenneth Kudo. Paul was born on the Big Island and attended Pahoa Elementary and High School. At an early age Paul gravitated toward learning. Electrical and mechanical gadgets fascinated him the most as he enjoyed playing the saxophone, did DJ'ing for school dances, and enjoyed outdoor activities with the Boy Scouts where he earned the prestigious rank of Eagle. He continued his love for learning at the University of Hawaii's School of Engineering where he graduated as an Electronics Engineer. After graduating from UH he began his career at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard where he worked for over 30 years under the guidance of the Shipyard's slogan 'We Keep them Fit To Fight', maintaining electrical systems on various ships and submarines. In 2002 Paul wanted to enjoy life and sought early retirement. Paul selflessly contributed to his community by being an active member of the Pearl City Lion's Club, along with his wife Alice, where they helped with numerous local Community activities, service projects and sponsored Lion's Club events. Through his many years of giving, Paul had the honor of receiving the International Presidential award and the Life Membership from the Pearl City Lion's Club. Paul also served on the Community Centers Foundation board, which kept the local center open and safe for all community members to enjoy. Paul is survived by wife Alice, son Brian (Coreen), daughter Cathy (Eric), grandchildren Brendan, Cadence and Ethan. Service to be held on July 19th at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Viewing will be at 5pm and service to start at 6pm. We will truly miss his presence but take comfort knowing he is doing what he did best . . . . watch over the ones he loves.
