Paul Nelson Obituary

PAUL M. NELSON 35, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away on February 20, 2024, at home. He was born on November 3, 1988, in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Gordon and Gwen Nelson. He was raised in Kaneohe, graduated from Castle High School and attended Windward Community College. Paul was born a "premie" and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He was confined to a wheelchair but that did not stop him. He was an avid sports fan, full of passion and optimism. In high school he started participating in Special Olympics and would have his school lunch with the Castle High School football team. After high school he started going to University of Hawaii football games and eventually became a season ticket holder. In 2007, he attended his first road game and caught the bug. One road game a year turned into 3 or 4 road games a year. Eventually he became a season ticket holder for UH Men's Basketball and UH Baseball. Road games included NFL, NBA, MLB games and pro wrestling. He traveled coast to coast, visited 13 states, several more than once. He had a long bucket list that ranged from something simple as going to Golden Corral to going to Canada. He checked off another item in January when he attended TNA Impact Wrestling in Las Vegas and met wrestling friends from the Podcast he participated in every Thursday. Paul lived an amazing 35 years. He had a positive attitude and would often tell his family "I love my life." He did not let his disability stop him. He had many friends: from school, 24-Hour Fitness, Special Olympics, "aunties" at Windward Mall, the gang at Ruby Tuesday Windward Mall, and his sport friends. The list goes on. Paul is survived by his mother Gwen, brothers Michael and Scott. A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 6 PM. Visitation 5PM to 6PM at Valley of The Temples, 47-200 Kahekili Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii. Paul will be inurned at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetary with his father.
