Pearl Takeuchi Obituary

PEARL MARIE SNITKER TAKEUCHI Pearl Marie (Snitker), 92, beloved wife of Masami Takeuchi for more than fifty years, died on June 29, 2024, at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu, Born in Buffalo, NY to Rev. Harold and Bertha Snitker, she earned her BA in Chemistry (summa cum Laude) from University of Buffalo and MSc in Analytical Chemistry from University of Wisconsin Madison. Pearl was a dedicated teacher, enriching the lives of both students and colleagues. She began her career as an analytical chemist with Shell Oil which she left to assume an initial missionary and then decade-long chemistry position at Mawuli School in Ho, Ghana, West Africa. 1969 began her Hawaii chemistry teaching career, first at Mid Pacific Institute in Honolulu and then serving in the UHCC system as a professor at Windward CC and Leeward CC, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 1994. She is survived by her husband Masami Takeuchi and niece Jana (Grossman) and Henry Nakata and daughter Victoria and nephew Alan Grossman and wife Kelly and sons Alex and Mark. She is predeceased by her sister Martha Grossman. A service wil be held at Kaumakapili Church in Honolulu on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with viewing at 9:30 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.
