Penny Garrity Obituary

PENNY LEE FOSTER GARRITY Penny Lee Foster (ex-Jesmer) Garrity passed away peacefully in Honolulu on September 7th. Penny was listening to her beloved Hawaiian music as she transitioned to reunite with her daughter, Whitney; her sister, Carol; and her mom and dad, Dorothy and Lyle Foster. She was a loyal Army wife who raised her kids in California, Kentucky, Germany, Maryland, Kauai, Georgia, Texas, Kansas, Oahu, and Virginia. When they left the nest, Penny completed her bachelor's degree in sociology, aligning academics with her interest in people. After her daughter's untimely death, she moved home to Honolulu to spend her remaining years close to her extended ohana--her Punahou '56 classmates. She also served as a docent at Washington Place and delivered meals with Meals-on-Wheels. She brought her family to visit every year ensuring they too understood the wonder of Hawaii. Penny is survived by her sons, David and Dwight Jesmer, daughter-in-law Noelle, son-in-law Steve Clark, grandsons Albert, Alex, and Charlie, and cousin, Pam Shore.
