Ralph Fujioka Obituary

RALPH SHINYA FUJIOKA Forever in our hearts, Ralph Shinya Fujioka, 81, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on January 17 after a battle with cancer. On September 24, 1942, he was born to Nobuo and Kishie, proprietors of School Street Delicatessen. Ralph followed in his parents' footsteps of ambitious self-employment. A 1960 graduate of Farrington High School, he majored in Accounting at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1965 and CPA license in 1968. Ralph achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while proudly serving from 1965 to 1971 in the Air Force Reserve. In the late '60s, Ralph was a staff accountant at Kaya Himoto Uto Naganuma & Senda, CPAs, and Hokada & Hayashi, CPAs. He opened his accounting firm in 1973, Fujioka & Wakazuru. His other Hawaii business interests included Quality Pacific/Qualpac. His backyard was his place of peace and relaxation. Ralph enjoyed tending to the koi pond and playing with his miniature Doberman, Chibi. He was a devoted UH football fan and loved to travel. His annual family vacations included many U.S. cities and foreign destinations, including Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, and Bali. There were many trips to California to visit the grandkids. His lifelong friends included his high school YMCA Sentimentals Club members, staff at Hirashima, Kong & Co., Ted Valdez, and Phillip Ng group. Of all of his accomplishments, relationships, and pastimes, Ralph loved and cherished his family most. Ralph is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Eleanor; two sons, Jason and Bryan (Vanessa); three grandchildren, Karis, Lianna, and Isaac; brother Stephen (Cindy); sister-in-law Susan, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
